It’s amazing how quickly things can change.
Inflation scares, huge selloffs of big tech names, and the WallStreetBets phenomenon have shaken up the markets in a big way.
Unless you’ve got a crystal ball — which none of us do — there’s a lot of money being left on the table right now.
That’s because a shocking number of retail investors are skittish about trying out options… especially put options.
Now in January, my PVA members booked gains of 63%, 67%, and 105% on my put alerts.
This of course is on top of the profits they made on stock trades and call options.
The market may be moving all over the place, but that really means more opportunity.
But if you’re only trading stocks, you’re literally limiting your “options.”
Would you use a hammer to change a light bulb?
Heck no!
The market is the same way. Different market conditions require different tools to maximize your returns.
Look, call options are great when you’re confident that a particular stock is going to continue to gain in value.
However, we’ve seen in the last week that even strong stocks have to come down at some point.
… And if you have the right puts in place, you can clean house on their way back down.
As retailers, we tend to give hedge fund managers a hard time…
But we can’t forget that we have some of the same tools at our disposal.
Puts are also a great cost-effective way to hedge your bets on stocks that you’re bullish on.
GameStop is the perfect example.
This stock can’t decide what it wants to be from day to day.
One day it’s a dog, the next day it’s a rocketship.
But if you’re dead set on chasing this thing, playing both sides of the fence may be your best “option.”
Believe me, I get it.
Sure, they’re a little more difficult to learn than straight stocks, but once you get confident in how to leverage options, it adds a completely new layer to your overall trading strategy.
When you learn how to trade stocks, calls, AND puts, you open up three potential streams of income.
We all know that what goes up must come down, and the moment you understand how to make money in a falling market with puts, you’ve leveled up your game.
